Taryn has been part of the mining industry for nearly two decades and has deep roots in Northwest British Columbia having been born in the mining town Cassiar, BC and resided in Cassiar until relocating to Smithers, BC in the early 2000’s, where she continues to live with her family. 

She co-owns a heavy-duty mechanical maintenance company with her husband for the past 14 years. Taryn is a member of the Tahltan Nation, a member of the wolf clan and her husband is a member of Witset First Nation, from Witset BC. Taryn brings board experience with currently sitting on the Coast Mountain College-Foundation as a board member. And recently, joined the Centre for Training in Excellence and Mining Advisory Board. She has a passion for education and training, and support initiatives that enhance education and training for all community members. She also, is Co-Chair of the Gathering Place-Association of Mineral Exploration- Round Up Conference.   

She has a bachelor’s degree of general studies, social service work diploma, and is the recipient of the 2021 Women in Mining Canada- Indigenous Student Trail Blazer Award. She has been employed with Seabridge Gold since 2011 and held her current role as the Office and Community Affairs Manager, where she is responsible for meaningful engagement with local communities and other stakeholders in relation to Seabridge Gold’s premier assets, KSM Project, Snip Gold and 3 Aces Project. She has represented Seabridge Gold at career fairs, business expos, mining forums, trade shows and open houses. She travels to Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities to address project related questions/concerns and to share regular updates with community members. She manages all Seabridge Gold social media platforms and websites. She has assisted in designing and implementing scholarship programs for Seabridge Gold for the past eight years to assist students from northwest BC to further their education and training and develop a strong, educated workforce in the region.
