I’m a Haudenosaunee Neuroscience student at UBC. I grew up in southwestern Ontario, in a tiny town between Toronto and London. Though I have Mohawk and Seneca heritage, I didn’t have many opportunities to explore my Indigeneity during my childhood. This contributed to my current curiosity about rediscovering my heritage, which I share with my mom.  

This summer, I have been working as an InSTEM instructor for UBC’s Geering Up, giving me the opportunity to learn from Elders, Knowledge Keepers and other members of rural Indigenous communities. I’m passionate about learning, with my current interests leaning towards addiction and gambling research, with emphasis on cultural influences.  

I’m not sure about what I want to do after my undergraduate studies, but I love teaching and learning, so I will probably pursue further studies. Outside of school and work, I have a cat that I’m obsessed with,I read a lot, and I play piano every once in a while.
