Now serving in her second term as Chief of Gitxaała Nation, Chief Innes believes in supporting the core values and beliefs of the Nation – respecting the territories that have provided to the Nation for time immemorial. Holding a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), Chief Innes believes in implementing the learnings from colonial institutions and weaving them into traditional practices.

An experienced leader and practitioner of supporting First Nations communities, Chief Innes has a wealth of administrative experience across multiple sectors, including health and wellness, social work, and business administration. These opportunities have assisted her in developing how she approaches partnerships for Gitxaała – seeking the greatest return for her community and members, while respecting those who have come before her.
