Alex is a proud Otipemisiw, a Métis with an extensive entrepreneurial spirit, ancestry and background who lives in ?amak?is Ktunaxa, the traditional unceded territory of the Ktunaxa Nation. She has founded multiple companies in an array of industries including, adventure tourism, Indigenous arts & culture, industrial land-based training, food sovereignty, decolonizing policy and organizational culture consulting. She has family ties to the Red River, Frog Lake, and Edmonton pre-confederation. Her ancestors were Rocky Mountain Métis guides through BC in the mid 1800’s.  

Appointed to the Province of BC Indigenous Procurement Initiative (IPI) – External Advisory Committee in 2022 by her fellow Métis Nation of BC – Business Advisory Committee members, Alex has been co-chair for its duration. She volunteered to serve her Métis Chartered Community, Rocky Mountain Métis as a board member or president over the course of eight years. Alex is a member of the adjudication committee for the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres – Path Forward program which focuses on gender based violence and was recently appointed to the Alpine Club of Canada – Mountain Culture Committee.  

Alex has an academic interest in distinction-based Indigenous rights associated with economic development, creating resilient adaptive organizations by leveraging diversity and transitioning from colonial constructs towards relational ways of being. She is passionate about cultivating transformational social change through relationships to improve the health of complex human systems for the greater good.
