Tara collaborates with MAC members to navigate and comprehend the federal regulatory and legislative landscape relevant to the Canadian mining sector. In her work, she focuses on key policy areas such as the Impact Assessment Act, Migratory Birds Convention Act, Species at Risk Act, and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. She advocates for responsible mining practices and has helped support the advancement of MAC’s Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) initiative—a globally recognized program that assists mining companies in effectively managing environmental and social responsibilities.  

Tara is dedicated to issues concerning species at risk and protected areas, actively contributing as a member of the national Nature Advisory Committee. She also serves as a co-chair of the Canadian Environmental Domestic Advisory Group for the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and holds a position on the Board of Directors for the Centre for Land Conservation.
