Norm is a member of the Fort Chipewyan Metis community and lives in Fernie, BC with his wife and two children.  Norm has been a member of Teck’s Indigenous Affairs team for six years and is a graduate of the inaugural cohort of North America’s first Indigenous Business and Leadership EMBA program at Simon Fraser University.

Norm is currently Leader, Indigenous Initiatives within Teck’s steel-making coal business unit based in Ktunaxa ʔamakʔis (also know as southeast BC).  Prior to joining Teck, Norm worked for the Ktunaxa Nation for nine years with their economic development corporation.

Relationships with Indigenous Peoples are a key aspect of sustainability and fundamental to resource development and Norm has practical experience from both the Indigenous and resource development perspectives of this interface.  This experience has provided opportunities to learn Indigenous perspectives on engagement mechanisms, developing and maintaining complex relationships, identifying shared values and managing impacts.
