George Greene has worked for 40 years in the field of environment and sustainable development internationally and across Canada. He has held leadership positions with international organizations, the Canadian government, resource companies, consultancies, and non-governmental organizations. He has established a reputation as a pragmatic champion of sustainable development, enabling strong governance and providing management leadership. He is known for his work on strategy and institutional development with governments, business, communities and not-for-profit organizations.
Mr. Greene works with executives and managers of international organizations and government agencies on sustainable development policy and management strategies. He works with companies in the energy and resource sectors and their trade associations to design and implement collaborations to address critical environmental and social issues. He works on the design and implementation of regulatory reforms in the natural resources sectors. He works to advance reconciliation among Indigenous governments, federal/provincial/territorial jurisdictions, and resource companies. He has been working with Teck Resources and the Ktunaxa Nation to support implementation of the joint Impact Management and Benefits Agreement.
He was the Inaugural Kinross Chair in Environmental Governance at the University of Guelph. He is the Founding Chair of Stratos Inc. – strategies to sustainability, a values-based sustainability consulting firm working across Canada and internationally
