Sarah Morris Lang

Manager of Social Equality Initiatives, Responsible Investment

BMO Global Asset Management

Meet Sarah:

Sarah is responsible for social equality-related investment stewardship activities at BMO GAM.  She engages directly with rightsholders and/or their representatives in addition to investee companies, policy makers, portfolio managers, bankers, and other key stakeholders to promote responsible business practices that align with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).

The UNGPs are a voluntary framework created over a decade ago that now forms the basis of new and evolving sustainability laws around the world.  Prior to joining BMO GAM in 2022, Sarah was a child welfare worker in the Greater Toronto Area for 15 years.  She also volunteered in refugee sponsorship and settlement and communications and advocacy for First Nations in northern Ontario.

All these experiences greatly inform Sarah’s current efforts to promote best practices by investors and businesses to manage human rights and investment risks.  Sarah has undergraduate degrees in the humanities and applied arts, and master’s degrees in social work and business administration.
