Biography

As a proud member of the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan and Executive Director of the Government of Saskatchewan’s Indigenous Economic Development Branch, Matt brings an extensive background of Indigenous engagement and collaboration to his role as CEO of the Saskatchewan Indigenous Investment Finance Corporation (SIIFC). Matt is responsible for the overall leadership of the SIIFC and serves as the primary liaison between project proponents and the SIIFC Board of Directors. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Matt helped lead the team of Government of Saskatchewan officials responsible for the establishment of the SIIFC. Born and raised in Regina, Matt moved away from the province in 1999, returning in 2012 to take a position with the Government of Saskatchewan’s International Relations Branch. In 2019, Matt joined the Indigenous Economic Development Branch which supports the growth of First Nation and Métis communities and businesses in the province by helping facilitate business development, partnership and business network creation, investment attraction, and knowledge building. Matt has a Bachelors Degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management with a specialization in Development Studies from Carleton University in Ottawa and a Masters Degree in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the University of Oxford. He enjoys traveling and has been fortunate enough to visit about 70 countries on six continents.
