Mary Kelly

Manager, Community Relations

Agnico Eagle Mines

Meet Mary:

Mary Kelly has more than 20 years of experience engaging and collaborating with people whose lives are changed by public and industrial activities. A significant portion of this experience has been fostering collaboration between Indigenous Nations and Peoples and industry. Mary is the Manager of Community Relations for Agnico Eagle Mines’ operations in Ontario and part of the Ontario Regional Management Team.

Prior to joining Agnico Eagle Mines in November 2022, Mary had spent her career working as an environmental consultant. She has worked across nearly every sector and in every phase in a development project’s lifecycle.

Mary received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Geography from the University of Calgary and immediately pursued a career to apply her skills. She often found herself at the intersection of industry, regulators and communities – working to advance technically complex projects with solutions that addressed a shared vision across diverse stakeholders.

Well into her career, Mary also pursued a Master of Environmental Studies (Anthropology) graduate degree. This experience focused on exploring individuals and their connection to place and space and how inherit knowledge can challenge existing assumptions and encourage more holistic practices.

Through her personal and professional experiences, Mary has developed an approach founded on fostering meaningful relationships, developing a shared vision, co-creating and co-executing actions that advance projects in meaningful ways. Her personal journey to understand her own privilege continues to guide her work with a commitment to do it together, to listen and learn, to always do better tomorrow and to share what has been done – successful or otherwise – so that we can we collectively advance reconciliation.

For Mary, spending time together in communities and actively participating in events – big or small – is as much about learning as it is an honour she treasures.
