Meet Luke:

Luke Wassegijig is the Tourism Manager for Wikwemikong Tourism and Planner for Point Grondine Park where he leads the community tourism development through Indigenous tourism experiences that celebrate and share the rich culture, history, and traditions of the Anishinaabe people in Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory.

With extensive experience in tourism development, destination marketing, cultural interpretation, and economic development, Luke has played a key role in creating award-winning Indigenous tourism initiatives that connect visitors with authentic Anishinaabe knowledge, language, storytelling, culinary traditions, and land-based experiences. His work focuses on strengthening community capacity, creating meaningful employment opportunities, and advancing Indigenous-led tourism through strategic partnerships, cultural preservation, and sustainable tourism practices.

Luke is passionate about ensuring that tourism serves as a vehicle for cultural revitalization, reconciliation, and economic prosperity while providing visitors with authentic and transformative experiences rooted in Anishinaabe values.
