Dear Forward Summit Community:
As we embark on a new year of collaboration, growth and learning, I am both humbled and inspired by this month’s theme: Equitable Partnerships with Indigenous Communities. It is a subject that sits at the very heart of our mission here at the Connect Partnership Group — to foster meaningful dialogue, actionable change and enduring partnerships that honour Indigenous sovereignty, knowledge, innovation and inclusion.
The journey toward equitable partnerships is not a static goal but a continuous process. It requires commitment, active listening and the courage to challenge traditional power dynamics. Too often, partnerships are built without a deep understanding of the historical and cultural contexts that shape Indigenous experiences. At the Connect Partnership Group, we believe true equity begins by recognizing the value of Indigenous voices and ensuring those voices are amplified and respected.
This month’s focus is not just about discussing equity; it’s about action. How do we move beyond intention to implementation? How do we weave Indigenous values, knowledge systems and cultural traditions into the fabric of partnerships in ways that are both meaningful and mutually beneficial? These questions will guide our conversations, programming and initiatives.
Over the next couple of months, as part of our ongoing commitment to these principles, we will be sharing previews of the impactful sessions, workshops and keynotes planned for the upcoming Forward Summit and Workforce Forward program on May 14-15, 2025. From case studies highlighting successful partnerships to panels featuring Indigenous leaders and allies, this year’s event promises to be a cornerstone for advancing reconciliation through collaboration and inclusion.
We also recognize the importance of taking these conversations beyond the conference room and into our day-to-day operations. That’s why we’re spotlighting stories of partnership —successes, challenges and lessons learned — to inspire our community to take actionable steps toward equity within their own spheres of influence.

Together, we have the power to create partnerships that not only uplift Indigenous communities but also strengthen the fabric of Canada’s economy and society as a whole.
