Red River Métis

Biography

My name is Jayda C. and I am in grade 10 at Henry Wisewood High School within the Calgary Board of Education. I am Red River Métis and I aspire to be a neurosurgeon or to be an orthopedic surgeon because of my bone disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta.  I am confident that through my commitment to learning and pursuing my dream to excel in the medical field I will find a cure for it and help other people.

I enjoy playing badminton and going on bike rides in the summer with friends. Since my knee injury I have taken a liking to walks and swimming.

Hobbies that take up my free time are singing, reading, and using my phone to Facetime my friends who live far away.

I enjoy giving back to the community and helping others.

Participating in the Forward Summit will make me feel more connected with my heritage and makes me feel seen.

An equal and diverse Canada to me looks like fairness to all people no matter ethnicity/ background, honesty towards others, not holding grudges on past occurrences and talking about it. In my perspective, kindness, even if it is not reciprocated, and being open-minded are the keys to an equal and diverse Canada.

I look forward to sharing my knowledge with everyone.
