Hannah Grewal is a dedicated advocate for Indigenous self-determination, sustainability, and knowledge-sharing, guided by respect, reciprocity, and relational accountability. A proud Indo-Canadian Sikh woman, she bridges the shared values of her cultural heritage and Indigenous traditions—kinship, connection to the land, and community—into her work, fostering meaningful relationships and collaboration.

Her work is rooted in the interconnectedness of people, communities, and the natural world. She first stepped into this space through the Sistering Indigenous and Western Science (SINEWS) program, which ignited her passion for bridging knowledge systems. This led her to pursue interdisciplinary master’s research focused on co-creating frameworks that weave together Indigenous Knowledge and Western science, centering co-creation, self-determination, and Two-Eyed Seeing.

With a thoughtful approach to community engagement, Hannah works alongside Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners to build trust-based relationships and co-develop culturally grounded strategies. She collaborates with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and youth to ensure decision-making reflects Indigenous ways of knowing, cultural protocols, and land-based teachings. She is committed to supporting Indigenous stewardship of the land in a way that honors traditional responsibilities and strengthens pathways for future generations.

As Director of Round Table, Hannah leads with integrity and purpose, supporting initiatives that uphold Indigenous leadership, advance holistic sustainability, and challenge imposed frameworks that overlook Indigenous perspectives. She deeply respects the diversity of Indigenous nations across Turtle Island and recognizes that self-determination must be guided by each Nation’s distinct knowledge systems, governance structures, and cultural protocols. She is also a storyteller, co-creating initiatives that elevate Indigenous voices and lived experiences, reinforcing the role of narrative in systems change.

Hannah envisions a future where Indigenous leadership, land stewardship, and cultural knowledge are centered in decision-making, ensuring that governance, sustainability, and community-driven solutions reflect the rights, responsibilities, and inherent wisdom of Indigenous Peoples.
