Having a professional background in managing the development of BC’s seafood sector for the Province, Fiona left government 12 years ago to work exclusively for BC’s Indigenous interests in that industry. She knew, even back then, the First Nations of BC would be leading this multi-billion dollar economic sector in the decades to come. Sure enough, that’s exactly what’s happening here on the west coast of Canada. She is now the Executive Director of the Native Fishing Association that provides loans, grants and business supports to the Indigenous fishing and seafood companies of BC. She is married to a commercial fisherman from Tsawout First Nation and lives on reserve.
