Art Cunningham is a proud Métis Elder and a respected leader in Indigenous relations, corporate policy, and resource development, with over 35 years of experience shaping how industry and Indigenous communities work together. As President and Knowledge Keeper of Roundtable Consulting, he continues to foster meaningful partnerships built on trust, respect, and reciprocity.

For 30 years, Art served as the Senior Indigenous Corporate Policy Advisor at TransCanada Energy, where he played a key role in advancing Indigenous engagement strategies in the resource sector. His ability to bridge perspectives has led to lasting agreements, strengthened relationships, and a deeper understanding between Indigenous Nations and industry. His work has influenced how corporations, governments, and communities navigate complex negotiations, ensuring Indigenous rights, knowledge, and economic priorities are centered in decision-making.

Beyond the corporate sector, Art has dedicated his life to supporting Indigenous governance, economic development, and community well-being. He has been an integral part of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce’s Aboriginal Opportunities Committee since 1994, a founding director and advisor for Circle for Aboriginal Relations (CFAR), and a trusted mentor in the Métis Nation of Alberta and the Circle of Wisdom Calgary. His leadership has guided countless initiatives that uplift Indigenous voices and promote self-determination. As a board member of Métis Crossing, he plays a key role in advancing cultural preservation, economic initiatives, and community-driven projects.

A lifelong advocate for Indigenous peoples, Art has also served on the boards of Children and Family Services, the United Way, and the Calgary Aboriginal Women’s Shelter, ensuring that Indigenous perspectives are woven into policies and programs that impact families and communities. His dedication has been recognized with the Chief David Crowchild Memorial Award, the Paul Harris Fellowship Award from Rotary International, and the Alberta Centennial Award for his contributions to Indigenous relations and community service.
