Dr. Patricia Makokis is married to Eugene, mother to Janice and James and Kokum to 10 year of Atayoh Kan Asiniy (Spirit Rock).  Pat and Eugene reside on the Saddle Lake Cree Nation.  She has worked in the field of education for most of her career, teaching in tribal institutions (Blue Quills University and Yellowhead Tribal College).  She currently teaches (online) for the University of Alberta (Faculty of Education) in their Master of Education program.  Pat worked with industry for the latter part of her career where she saw first hand the confusion and fear of staff who did not always understand the unique opportunities before them, especially when Canada acknowledged and started the implementation of Truth and Reconciliation.  Pat always says “we are all treaty people, and we are all related!  She is on a mission of building relationships between red, yellow, black and white people, the “human family,” one person at a time.  We are all called into this work according to the Elders who mentored Pat!
