Dr. Beverley Roy is a proud Anishinaabe-kwe of the Anishinabek Nation and a member of the M’Chigeeng First Nation located on Mnidoo Mnising (Manitoulin Island) in Northern Ontario. Beverley is the President of Kenjgewin Teg, an Anishinabek-led and governed place of learning, which is additionally recognized as an accredited Indigenous Institute named under Ontario’s Indigenous Institutes Act, 2017. Beverley completed her Ph.D. in Higher Education (University of Toronto) in June 2024 and has over fifteen years of experience in the Indigenous post-secondary sector with Kenjgewin Teg. Her graduate and undergraduate studies include a Master of Business Administration degree from Athabasca University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo. Beverley’s personal Anishinabek identity and purpose have been strengthened with her Anishinaabe spirit name as given to her by a Mnidoo Mnising Elder, and she describes herself as a dedicated advocate for Anishinabek education sovereignty. Beverley passionately believes in Kenjgewin Teg’s work to develop and deliver Anishinabek worldview certificates, diplomas, degrees and skills development learning as part of its exciting future growth and development.
