Dan Doherty has been an active Rotarian for 43 years. Dan was the District 5360 Governor 2018/19 and is currently serving Zone 28 32 as Treasurer. Dan served as a Learning Facilitator for the 2024 International Assembly and has led the Institute Learning for Zone 28/32 for several years. Dan has been very active in supporting various Districts across Zone 28 in developing and building their Action Plans. May 2026 Dan will be RIP Francesco’s representative at D6400 Conference in Michigan.

Dan was awarded the Distinguished “Service Above Self Award”, the highest tribute awarded in the Rotary World. Dan was recently honored to be awarded the Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee Award celebrating a lifetime of community Service.

Dan is recognized as a Major Donor Level 3 and was a member of the HOC that brought the Rotary International Convention to Calgary in 2025.

Dan has a passion for advocating and empowering Youth especially those without a voice. He is the past Chair of Hull Child and Family Services, Accessible Housing, and the Calgary Rotary Clubs Foundation. Dan was active in supporting the Komkan Africana Institute and the engagement of the marginalized South Sudanese community in Calgary. Dan sits on the board of the Indigenous Gathering Place Society, and the Waterton Glacier International Peace Park Society. Additionally, Dan sits on the Board of Norms Africa a human rights organization based out of Kampala Uganda.

Dan led eighteen Mexico Home building trips and is coordinating the nineteenth in April 2026 with his wife Marlene, also an active Rotarian. Having returned from a Polio Immunization campaign in Ethiopia with mission work in Uganda and Malawi, Dan is reinvigorated in the Rotary Polio eradication fight

Corporately Dan was Chairman of the Board of Curve Distribution Services Inc., a multi- division international wholesaler of food, consumer electronics and general merchandise. Curve was one of the first signatories in the “Living Wage Coalition”, and an employer and advocate for “Inclusion Alberta”. Additionally, Dan is CEO of D3 Strategies Inc. a real estate development, consultancy, and brokerage firm. Dan also sits on numerous Corporate Advisory Boards and was a member of the Haskayne School of Business Advisory Council. Dan is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors ICD.D.
