Cultural Wealth that Grows Beyond the Cycle

By: Buffy-Pearl:Handel

Things we as First Nations are born with is our inherit right which is a part of our natural law, Creator’s law.

Unfortunately, presumptions were made during the signing of the treaties, the first presumption was that we were dead legal fictions to which consented to being governed by their laws and through these presumptions, we were thrusted into the “cycle”, which creates characters that suffer and have no identity because let’s face it, us as spirits of this land are living men, living woman and our natural property are our children. They are truly gifts from the creator so who do they belong to? Well for us the original Stuarts of this land believe that children belong to the Creator, and we have an unbelievable and loving task to raise them with honor. This is the purest form of honoring our original source.

Part of this “cycle” offers not only the suffering and lack of identity but this “cycle” isn’t necessarily filled with individual debt but possibly the “band” has massive debt due to the overwhelming harm caused by the “cycle”.

What is the Toxic “Cycle”?

You live paycheck to paycheck, barely can afford quality food, no access to clean drinking water and you will own nothing.

At times, the mental health of not only our youth but included is our elder’s trauma and our children’s trauma, lives can feel very bleak.

One might ask, “So what is the advantages for living men women and children of the original nations here?”

Investments!! Not short-term adrenaline rushing satisfactory.

Our ancestors made the most powerful investments that took us beyond even 7 generations. They invested long term into land, water, and air. This was done through the ability to humble ourselves and know the law that is given to us by the Creator. This was and for some of us, still is the highest form of law.

Look after all living things and in return, all living things will look after you!

This way of life WASN’T about falling in love with the quick and easy but rather through philosophy and long-term stabilization.

It is my opinion that we need to look at economic development as not only our inherent right but as well with the same way of life as our ancestors have.

Each investment must be done with key stabilized structure;

  1. Do not fall in love with fast money but rather have a clear understanding of the purpose.
  2. Have a clear communication plan of what that investment journey will look like both short term and long term.
  3. Analyze and monitor those investments and create the risk calculation.
  4. Make provisions when it is necessary,

So, I will ask you this: Is there only a few ways to save and make money for First Nations?

I can think of one million ways but what will it take?? If you don’t know who you are, how can you possibly defend yourself from the presumptions? If you only make investments in the typical economic development “opportunities”, then you might miss the boat and the huge other world of true investment ACTION, which can decrease the overhead and eliminate debt.

Understanding True Investment Action

There are some things to consider about social living, and one must:

  • Assess your behaviour
  • Assess your habits
  • Assess your views
  • Assess your vision

All four will also dictate who you hang out with, how healthy you are, what you spend your time doing, and how fast you can achieve. (Example: broke friends always have an opinion about money, wealthy friends will always inspire you to grow.)

In order to develop a better relationship with wealth you must work beyond middle class banking and never rely on government to save you.

How can you assess an opportunity’s relationship to wealth?

Not all contracts are created equal when it comes to their ability to grow true wealth. Seeking wealthy contracts is the only real long-term strategy that creates stable and sustainable economic conditions.

Poverty level contracts:

  • Payday lenders
  • Title loans
  • Pawn shops
  • Rent to own agreements
  • Lotteries

Middle class contracts:

  • Airline points
  • Leases which include leasing vehicles
  • Second mortgages to renovate
  • Student loans
  • Whole life insurance
  • Time shares or financing your vacations

Wealthy contracts:

  • If you can’t pay for it upfront then don’t buy it! This is to avoid paying in interest fees
  • Building on equity
  • Smart Investments
  • DONT BUY JUNK

It’s all about pattern recognition. What is working for you or what are you working for?

I wish you all love, light and life!
