Brent Sterling is a distinguished Emergency Response Specialist, District Fire Chief, and the Founder & CEO of Waswanay Consulting Inc., a firm dedicated to empowering remote communities, including First Nations, remote mines, and fire services. With over 32 years of experience in fire services, Brent has demonstrated expertise in firefighting, hazardous materials response, urban search and rescue (USAR), emergency preparedness, and emergency management.

Throughout his distinguished career, Brent has responded to over 1,800 fire scenes, including large-scale disasters, mass evacuations, hazardous materials incidents, and forensic fire investigations. His leadership has been instrumental in coordinating fire protection services for the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, developing Ontario’s Mutual Aid Program, and managing drone programs for emergency responses. These contributions earned him the prestigious Amethyst Award for outstanding achievement by Ontario public servants.

As a certified Firefighter, Company Officer, Training Officer, Fire Prevention Officer, and Safety Officer, Brent has provided specialized instruction on emergency preparedness, fire safety, and drone operations to emergency service professionals. His ability to integrate cutting-edge technology into emergency management has made him a leader in the use of drones in emergency response.

Brent’s dedication to fire services and public safety has been recognized with several prestigious honors, including the Exemplary Services Medal from the Governor General of Canada and the Long Service Medal from the Fire Marshal of Ontario.
