Brent was born and raised in Treaty No. 8 territory in Slave Lake, Alberta and is a member of Bigstone Cree Nation. Brent has a Bachelor of Arts in Native Studies Degree from the University of Alberta and a Law Degree from the University of British Columbia. As a lawyer, Brent helped First Nation clients with their governance and economic development needs. Brent is also an entrepreneur, co-founding a retail company, a globally accredited plant-based extraction and manufacturing company and a drilling services company. Brent currently sits as the Vice President of Business Relations at JEN COL Construction, a commercial construction company and builder of schools, seniors & healthcare, commercial office & retail, light industrial, Indigenous communities, municipal infrastructure, emergency services and more.

JEN COL Construction works a lot with Indigenous communities throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Brent is deeply involved in the fostering of Indigenous relationships and development for JEN COL. He serves as a crucial liaison with numerous Nations in Alberta and British Columbia. Recognizing the profound social and economic impact of their projects, JEN COL Construction prioritizes the utilization of local Indigenous labour and businesses, ensuring that benefits are maximized within these communities. Brent spearheads these efforts, ensuring that each project contributes positively to Indigenous economic development.

Brent enjoys golfing, running, swimming, playing hockey and spending time with his family. His wife, Leigh anne Sheldon, is also a First Nations Person, Member of Swan River First Nation and the founder of Indigenous Psychological Services of Alberta.
