Head, Indigenous Talent Strategy
Amanda Ens is of mixed ancestry with matrilineal Nehiyaw (Cree) roots in Waterhen Lake First Nation (Treaty 6) and Canoe Lake Cree First Nation (Treaty 10). She is the Head, Indigenous Talent Strategy at BMO. Within her role, she is passionate about enhancing the socio-economic opportunities of Indigenous Peoples through meaningful employment opportunities in an organization that promotes cultural inclusivity and advances career aspirations. Amanda’s career experience spans many sectors, including a recent role at TELUS, where she supported the technology company to develop the industry-first Indigenous Reconciliation Strategy and Action plan. Her past experiences in telecommunications, government, post-secondary education and pro-bono law, have focused on amplifying Indigenous voices and advocating for Indigenous-led equity and inclusion of Indigenous Peoples. Amanda was raised in Northern Saskatchewan and currently resides in Treaty 7. She holds a BA in Psychology and a Master of Education with a specialization in Adult, Community and Higher Education from the University of Calgary. BMO has developed nisitohtamowin ᓂᓯᑐᐦᑕᒧᐃᐧᐣ: An Introduction to Understanding Indigenous Perspectives in Canada which is an educational program available to all Canadians.
