Alexandra Cropp is the Innovative Indigenous Health & Governance Specialist with Thunderbird Solutions and a proud Cree woman from Norway House Cree Nation. She is a proven leader with an extensive background in project management and operations, deeply rooted in Indigenous knowledge and a strong focus on Reconciliation.

Throughout her diverse career, Alexandra was instrumental in the development of the Norway House Cree Nation Health Centre of Excellence, introducing a new and innovative approach to community-based project management through Indigenous self-devolution and self-governance. She led a $125M capital infrastructure project, managed a large community Health Division, and developed a Health Transformation Strategy for the community. By forging partnerships with Federal, Provincial, Municipal, and post-secondary institutions, Alexandra advanced meaningful and sustainable partnerships that furthered Indigenous governance and reconciliation with industry partners.

Alexandra’s leadership in the construction of the Norway House Cree Nation Health Centre of Excellence also introduced innovative Supply Chain and Procurement protocols. She developed an Indigenous Preference Policy that prioritized Indigenous employment opportunities, highlighting the local, provincial, and national Indigenous employment labor pool. Her work with unionized and non-unionized subcontractors increased diversity among the labor force, contributing to the successful construction of the Health Centre of Excellence.

Alexandra has also worked with the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Nursing to integrate Indigenous Science and Knowledge into the Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery Program. She developed a Northern Inter-professional Experience student program, where students from various health-related fields traveled to Norway House Cree Nation to gain a deeper understanding of what health in the North looks like.

In her ongoing work, Alexandra continues to leverage her lived experience as an Indigenous woman to support self-determination and key governance opportunities for Nations. She focuses on building partnerships and creating innovative strategies for Indigenous Nations, Peoples, and organizations. Alexandra also serves on the Board for Aboriginal Legal Services and is dedicated to enhancing Nations through consulting.
